ComfyUI App Mode gives a workflow a simpler input-and-output interface. ST Studio brings that workflow into a creative workspace with image and video generation, editing, reusable prompts, projects, and ways to develop earlier results.
Both let you create without editing nodes every time. Choose the working environment you want around the workflow.
What changes in everyday use? #
| When you want to… | ComfyUI App Mode | ST Studio |
|---|---|---|
| Run an existing workflow | Open it and configure its App Mode inputs and outputs | Import it as a Pipe and use its creative controls |
| Choose the visible controls | Use App Builder | Use the Pipe editor |
| Develop prompt ideas | Edit the workflow's prompt inputs | Compose text with reusable live or frozen snippets |
| Continue from a result | Load the workflow stored in the image | Regenerate, or use the result in another Pipe |
| Edit the composition | Use ComfyUI's Layer Editor, mask editor, and editing workflows | Use Transform layers, paint, text, masks, and expansion |
| Chain reusable tools | Connect subgraphs in the graph editor | Compose compatible Pipes through input/output choices |
| Connect an AI assistant | Use first-party Comfy MCP | Use Agent Access with project visibility and action approvals |
| Continue a body of work | Use saved workflows and assets | Keep Projects, Gallery, prompts, and saved Canvases together |
Try the same idea in Studio #
- Import a workflow you already use through Pipes.
- Review the controls and resolve missing dependencies on your selected engine.
- Generate an image, open it, and choose Regenerate to try a variation.
- Save a useful phrase as a snippet.
- Use Transform to edit the composition, or Use in Pipe to animate the image.
- Save a Canvas to reopen the workspace later.
Studio does not replace your ComfyUI installation. It can use the same engine, models, and custom nodes, locally or through ST Bridge.
Choose by how you want to create #
App Mode is useful when you want a simpler interface inside ComfyUI. Studio is for developing image and video work in a workspace that brings creative tools and project context together. You can keep using ComfyUI directly alongside Studio.
