BioCLIP-HC-Hyperbolic is a hierarchical CLIP model trained on the TreeOfLife-10M dataset for fine-grained biological image understanding in hyperbolic space. It extends BioCLIP with level-restricted contrastive learning, producing embeddings that better preserve the taxonomic hierarchy across ranks (from kingdom to species). BioCLIP-Hier supports taxonomy-aware zero-shot classification of animals, plants, and fungi, and achieves improved separation among sibling taxa compared to BioCLIP and other baselines.
